Before PavePoint, Francois Stassen and Luke Baker spent their careers investing in scaled businesses where they worked closely with management teams and supported successful growth strategies across several other industries. Along the way, they saw firsthand what is needed to build a company that continues to grow to the next level – and just as often, what gets in the way.
They decided they no longer wanted to watch from the sidelines. They wanted to build a company of their own – one they could help grow alongside exceptional operators.

Commercial paving and pavement maintenance stood out immediately. It’s essential, relationship-driven work – built on trust with the property managers, general contractors and facility teams who rely on the same partners year after year.
Perhaps that’s why the industry resonated with us. Growing up in South Africa gave us an appreciation for the importance of reliable infrastructure – and the consequences of neglecting it. We also came to admire the entrepreneurs who have built exceptional paving businesses one relationship and one job at a time.

Outside of work, Luke is an avid fly fisherman who represented South Africa internationally, and enjoys golf, squash and firing up the grill.
